Chaulai/Amaranthus/ Ramdana is a Homegrown pseudo-cereal widely cultivated in higher Himalayan regions of Uttarakhand. Chaulai is naturally grown in rainfed conditions and is a staple diet of mountain inhabitants. A rich source of calcium and phosphorous, Chaulai is commonly made into ladoos, rotis and halwas in the hilly areas.
